About

We built the firm we wished existed.

TC Sourcing was founded on a simple frustration: manufacturers were overpaying for materials, and the consultants who could help them were charging by the hour regardless of results. We built a different model.

The Founder

Jason Marttinen

Founder, TC Sourcing

Minneapolis, MN

Jason is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) with nearly a decade of hands-on sourcing experience across global manufacturing environments — spanning metals, electronics, capital equipment, MRO, and indirect spend categories.

He has delivered multimillion-dollar cost savings through strategic sourcing initiatives, complex supplier negotiations, and category strategy development — working across supplier networks in North America, APAC, and EMEA. His background includes regulated manufacturing environments, multi-site operations, and direct collaboration with executive leadership on enterprise sourcing strategy.

TC Sourcing is the firm he built to bring that same discipline to small and mid-size manufacturers who don't have a dedicated procurement function — on a model where results are the only thing that gets paid for.

Our Story

Born in the Twin Cities. Built for manufacturers.

TC Sourcing was founded in Minneapolis by sourcing professionals who spent years inside manufacturing operations — watching shops leave money on the table because they didn't have the time, leverage, or market intelligence to negotiate effectively with their suppliers.

Steel was the obvious starting point. It's the single largest spend category for most machine shops and fabricators, it's volatile, and it's a market where relationships and timing matter enormously. We knew how to work it — and we knew most shops didn't have a dedicated person whose only job was to do exactly that.

The gain-share model came from a conviction that consultants should have skin in the game. If we don't save you money, we don't get paid. That alignment changes everything about how we work — what we prioritize, how hard we push, and how we measure success.

Why We Exist

Manufacturers deserve better sourcing.

Most small and mid-size manufacturers don't have a VP of Procurement. They have an owner or ops manager who's also handling a dozen other things — and sourcing gets done reactively, not strategically. We exist to change that. To give shops access to the same sourcing discipline that Fortune 500 companies take for granted, without the overhead of a full-time hire.

Aligned incentives

We only make money when you save money. That's not a tagline — it's the structural foundation of every engagement.

Transparency first

You see the baseline, the strategy, and the results. No black boxes, no inflated benchmarks, no surprises on the invoice.

Straight talk

We'll tell you if we can't help you. If your spend is too small or your suppliers are already best-in-class, we'll say so and not waste your time.

Results over relationships

We respect your existing supplier relationships. But we're not here to protect them — we're here to make them better or find you something better.

Where We Work

Twin Cities rooted. Midwest focused.

We're based in Minneapolis and work primarily with manufacturers in the Twin Cities metro and greater Upper Midwest. We know the regional supplier landscape, the logistics realities, and the kinds of shops that make this part of the country run.
